Magic Man carpet & tile cleaner

So this really round guy come in the store wanting to have us sell his product and this happens all the time. He’s hawking Magic Man carpet & tile cleaner, a yellow liquid in a pint bottle. “It’s concentrated,” he says, “you only need a couple to four ounces in a quart. It cleans just about anything, it’s safe for the environment, non-toxic, it doesn’t leave a residue…” and on and on. He sounds like one of these guys at the carnival selling pots and pans and apple peelers. (Look out Billy Ray) “We sell it all the tile and carpet stores and they’re getting $23- $28 for it,” and starts dropping names of local places.

My sister says, if you can get it to clean the crud away from the balustrades, she’ll buy a case. This roly-poly guy mixes up a bit out of his demo bottle, get down on his knees and spritzes it down around the base of the stairs. He scrubs away the black stuff left there after 5 years of cleaning the floor just as easy as you please. “Huh!” she says and goes to write a check. “Rats,” I say, “we can’t sell cleaners to save our lives.”

Now we have to take the obligatory bottle home to try it out. She calls me the following weekend absolutely raving about how clean her grout lines are after having tried everything else, this stuff worked. I tried it out on my kitchen chair upholstery and it did get them clean. The best part was that they are clean and there isn’t really any leftover residues. It worked nicely on my car armrests too.

The instructions say to mix a little of the concentrate an ounce or two into a quart of water in a spray bottle and to shake it up thoroughly. Then spray the mixture on to the surface to be cleaned and use a scrub brush to clean it. It works nicely to get out dirt and as my sister says it cleans her grout lines better than anything else she has ever used.
It got the stains out of my upholstery with some scrubbing. The nice thing is that there is no fumes, no residues, no harmful chemicals etc. The dirty stuff that came out was wiped away with a damp rag.
